Festival of Lights, Friday, and
If you're celebrating like us this week, have a happy Hanukkah!
I made a pretty new icon - that's the tree-shaped menorah we have.
A friend of mine, with twin boys a little older than my daughter, called me a few minutes ago and
they serenaded me over the phone with a Hanukkah song...so cute.
I am SO VERY GLAD it's Friday. It's been a long, ridiculous week. The last two weeks of school before winter break are always wonky, with lots of my kids being mentally on vacation already. But a bunch of them are hanging out at lunch today and Monday and helping me put donated art supplies into pretty bundles for a local shelter for victims of domestic violence - they put out a call for art stuff for the kids, and my students thought they could have fun. So nice to see teenagers not be all "me, me, me" at this time of year! :) And next week is a one week unit on the language of science fiction and fantasy. Whimper...if only I had a month to teach that one. Sigh.
