Could the universe stop with the extremes? Please?

Sunday? Got an amazing portrait of my daughter taken at the mall and got copies made for winter gifts. Less useful? She put her beautiful dress, out of which she'd changed, on a bench beside her, forgot it and went back for it five minutes later. Someone had stolen it, less than three yards from the mall cops. Sigh. Reordered the dress online, thank goodness.

Monday? Got to school to find that it had been hit over the weekend - gang taggers (graffiti) and a classroom broken into (computer and equipment taken, cupboards and the teacher's desk tossed). Thank goodness it wasn't mine, but still. That's Our School, you jerks! Good rehearsal tonight, with tons of emotions and tears from the member whose mom died this last week - we got together and bought her a little orange tree to plant. And as we're being filmed for local television opening night, we all decided which songs we felt more confident about singing...after all, as one woman put it, we have to live with that performance for the next decade or two.

I think I need to bake cookies tonight. Really.
