Time off, time in an Aquarium, time online...

Nine days' vacation, including both weekends. Woah. Well, family is in town, so slightly less relaxing altogether, but pretty nice. I have a million things to get done in those nine days, but still...

My daughter's tenth (!) birthday was spent at the Monterey Bay Aquarium (she and two friends), and the Aquarium gives special birthday treasures to birthday kids, so that was a nice surprise. And it was a festival of birds day, so the kids got to hand-feed some of the birds in the aviary, and a penguin came out of the exhibit to...and not kidding...walk down a red carpet. *giggle* It kept trying to go into the crowed, 'cause it was curious, and the handlers kept steering it back. And when we got home, my mom had cupcakes and presents all ready to go. My sister Skyped from Ohio, so that was sweet, since she got to see her niece open the present she sent.

I joined Facebook last night so I could get back in touch with some people who were impatiently waiting for me to do so, but I think I'll still do more on Livejournal overall.

Coffee's kicking in and I hear my daughter thumping about upstairs as she gets up.
