High Holy Days...
Sep. 18th, 2010 10:34 amAnd as happens to me every so often, I will not attend services this year due to a crashing immune system. (under directions from a doctor a few years ago who pointed out that when it's like this, being in a crowd of 600 people that includes tons of kids is a really, really bad idea for me) Strangely enough, Jewish law in this sense I've known about for a while - I can't fast, either, due to health reasons, and neither can my mom. If it would be dangerous, you're forbidden to follow the tradition, actually. Makes sense! I was hoping to be well enough, but then I had a really annoying allergic reaction to something yesterday and spent my morning with stomach cramps and extreme vertigo. And yeah, that made teaching sort of interesting for an hour or so, there. I decided to put off dressing in Roman garb for Monday's test review, when I look and feel less like...y'know... Sheesh. My husband and daughter will go to the kids' service tonight, though.
I have a siddur (the prayer book) at home, so I'll do that bit on my own. And then for irony, I will then go to the recording studio and record a Yiddish song this afternoon. :) No crowds in the studio booth.
Benadryl is my friend...
