My mother-in-law decided that birthday presents for her children this year (and their spouses) would be tickets to see The Police in June. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I may grumble about her, but sometimes she's just awesome. :)
Think I'll need some earplugs, though. The concert is the day after my job ends, so I think that'll be some good cheering-up activity.

Could have used earplugs two hours ago for the Kids' Megillah reading at the synagogue. That was a lot of noise. Joyful and excited noise, though, that continued during the carnival. The usual silly and cheap prizes for carnival games, and for two tickets, one could hold a very friendly rosy boa constrictor.

I'm curious to see how long the Police manage to stay together this time - goodness knows they don't like each other all that much! But I certainly did like their music.

i remember reading an article in one of my sister's fan magazines (yeah, wouldn't have been caught dead buying it for myself, but if she bought one i read it too) where Stewart Copeland described the dynamic between Sting and himself as "battling brothers." this would have been around 1981, so they had about 2 years left as a functional band at that point.

can't wait to see them, though!
