EEP! (slowly emerges from under the covers as dawn arrives) That was the single loudest thunderstorm I've ever been in. Shook the house, literally, for half the night, and rained down hail in prodigious amounts. There are _drifts_ of hail outside my front door this morning and all over my car, much to my little one's amusement. Not so amused last night, though, when everything was lit up every few minutes by bright blue flashes of lightning worthy of special effects at WETA, and the claps of thunder threatened to knock pictures off the walls. Yikes. Much cuddling and reassurance needed. It's cold enough (and yes, I do live in Santa Cruz, CA) still at around 8 a.m. that the hail drifts are still there and frozen to the ground in places. She is now running around outside in a bathrobe over her pajamas, boots, and mittens, gathering handfuls of little hailstones and throwing them like snowballs. :)
