We went and bought most of the rest of the things we need to update our emergency kit. Water purifier/filter/thingy, non-perishable food items, extra meds, etc. It seemed a good response to the past few days.

I find myself utterly grateful that the only thing panicking my child tonight is her old fear of the sound of rain when it's loud on the roof...

You are being very smart to update your emergency kit. Hell, you are smart just for HAVING such a kit! Bravo!

I've been talking to people lately about this very same idea. Just the concept of keeping some galleons of water on hand is like an alien concept...and then I realized that I had not replaced my galleons that I had used and was down to only one! EEK! Must remedy soon! Thank you for the reminder!

Very sensible :) It's something I've been meaning to do for months now. I don't have much room in my apartment though, and keeping a big backpack full of emergency stuff by the door is a bit annoying. Yet again, events in the world are telling me I'm probably going to need it one day though. Things like this make me wish I would just go back home to England, where catastrophic things don't happen.
