Whomever it was on the news yesterday saying it would be sunny - YOU WERE WRONG!

Rain, rain, rain. Good night for making soup. And I found a company that makes alphabet pasta out of brown rice - I've wanted alphabet soup since I saw in on Sesame Street as a little girl, so it was fun to make it for myself and my daughter-who-has-a-cold. Comfort food.

My husband's grandmother (daughter's great-grandmother) died this morning after a long, long decline. I'm glad that my last memory of her is of her visit to my daughter's school on their Grandparents' Day festivities, at which she was the only great-grandparent there. Yes, the kids and staff were impressed and really sweet to her. I'm glad my kid got to know her - she was a professor of botany many years ago, and a world-traveller. Bon Voyage, M.
