Best line from a student in my class today? (assignment = pretend you are a team of Samurai in ancient Japan, planning an attack on a neighboring Daimyo's castle complex - what strategies could you use based on what we'd learned?)

"Could we use a Trojan Buddha statue? I mean that would get us in with weapons so we could open the gate to the walls."

Sometimes my students rock my world. And cause me to try very, very hard not to get hysterical giggles while teaching.

I was pleasantly surprised last night before the chaos of Open House when a teacher I haven't really been comfortable around tried to get to know me and we discovered that we read practically all of the same things - Tolkien, Earthsea, Lloyd Alexander, Tamora Pierce. Apparently, we have more in common than I thought. *glee*

I can't believe the amount of STUFF I have to do before school ends for the year and summer school begins.
