Oh frabjous day!
Sep. 26th, 2008 05:49 pmThanks to a gift certificate, I got to order a custom made Regency-era gown last week, and it arrived today (goodness, that woman is a fast seamstress!)! Utterly simple, a deep forest green, slight train, period correct design, trimmed with cream lace at the neckline and cream ribbon at sleeve ends and above the bottom of the hem. *happy sigh* At 37, I could hardly do the dainty muslin gown thing, so my favorite color was deemed a good idea by all concerned.
Of course, I just tried it on straight out of the shipping box and am now waiting for my husband to get home and see me in it. ;)
Now I have a month to make the jewelry and find some shoes that work. A colleague has promised to do my hairstyle the day we wear costumes to school, so we'll see how that works.
On a less "ladylike" note, I wrangled a small snake yesterday (I hope Steve Irwin is somewhere smiling) with my daughter's help. It really shouldn't have picked the middle of the driveway to sun itself, so we moved it to a tomato patch/garden.
