Nov. 8th, 2006 05:15 pmNow that I'm home, *does a little happy dance!*...
May I just say that the Daily Show's parody of "Schoolhouse Rock" was awesome? I can't wait for their show tonight...
My students came in all riled up and excited and wondering so we checked CNN at recess and talked about what the results meant...they were simultaneously happy about Pelosi and wondering what had taken this country so long to get there. They were pretty stoked about the first Muslim Congressman, too, and Mass. electing, as my sweetie said, the first African American governor they've had since the Reconstruction. Heh. I think mostly they were glad, from kids' perspective, that the campaign ads are done. Whew!
I think that this is only the second time in my adult life that I've been truly happy about election results. It's nice to have proof that hard work and participation actually does something. Could have done without my fellow CA citizens re-electing Arnold, but hey, can't have everything.
I'll probably get all cynical tomorrow, but damn it - I want to be happy just now.
