Just the relief of knowing *something*...

songspinnerWell, so far, after the first round of diagnostics, this is what we got:
We have a gifted child with some serious short-term memory integration issues that affect lots and lots of academic things, and possible some hand-eye tracking stuff going on as well. (eye exam focusing on tracking is coming up) Tutoring to start probably next week.
Huh. It's a start, and definitely good to begin to know what's going on in that busy little head. He said that the speed her brain is working combined with the memory problem may just shut things down, and that would definitely explain how distracted and frustrated she gets.
On a silly note...The guy testing her showed her some shape-blocks in different colors, hid a few, and started asking her how many he was putting in front of her. She said a wrong number and then explained when he asked that she was counting the ones that were hidden behind his other hand. Sigh. He described this to me later as the "you can't fool me you silly man" routine, which he's seen before. :)
