Apr. 11th, 2007 02:52 pmOkay. I've taught in a classroom setting for 8 years. Multiple subjects. In order to get a multiple subject credential from the state of California, I apparently also need to take a methodology course (which will cost upwards of $300-400)in how to teach multiple subjects in a classroom. The 8 years of documented experience do not count.
So I will be applying for jobs with a letter that says that all I need is this course, which I haven't been able to take yet as I am teaching full time.
Can someone please kick the genius who wrote this set of rules in the rear end? I mean, I've already paid fees for 3 other credentials and certificates, hundreds of dollars for teaching exams (one of them cost more than $200), and hundreds of dollars for classes. Are they expecting teachers to be millionaires?
Sorry, rant done. I will now go apply for the other two things I need to get for job searching (which costs almost 100 dollars for the privilege of applying) and try not to scream. And figure out when and where I can take yet another class while working full time and taking care of my family.

Good luck with the job search! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
