Sadness but fond memories...

Madeleine L'Engele died today at 88. I remember reading "A Wrinkle in Time" for the first of many, many times. I also remember her book "A Ring of Endless Light" helping me survive a junior year of high school with my sanity intact (I was astonished to find a character going through similar things with an oddly similar mindset).

She will be missed.

I look forward to introducing my daughter to that wonderful author's books when she's ready.

I just finished a re-read of the 'Time Series' - they're still such marvellous books (and I'm almost forty now). She really got the fact that to be a good children's writer, you had to be a good writer, period - and managed to create works that really stick with you no matter your age. She will be missed.
