Woah.

That was...like really, really good fanfiction. Truly.

Things that stuck in my head? (aside from the jokes, which were marvelous and aimed straight at geeky fans, thank you...)

The dreams? I liked this touch because at no point did anyone attempt to analyze them; the writers assumed we're smart enough to figure it out. Teyla afraid of others rejecting her/losing the trust of her family, Ronon's fear of being alone and a Runner again (that made me want to cry, actually). Keller's made sense - facing unknown medical emergencies and failing in this weird galaxy they're in. Kate? The counselor's worst dream: who catches you when you're falling? And trust me, as a person who's been a counselor, that's really one of the worst - just didn't expect her to actually die, and Teyla's stunned grief was well-played, as was Keller and Carter's little moment of still trying to find their footing in this new place.

Lorne! All mussed-up and panicked and in bare feet. *blink* Makes sense that his worst nightmare is having to betray or hurt his superiors, whom he trusts and admires.

Did anyone else think "Second task from the Triwizard Tournament" when John lost Rodney and we knew he'd have to go after him? "What you'll miss the most"...Anyone? Maybe that was just 'cause I've been re-reading that one.

I was really impressed with Flannigan's acting in this episode. His face and body language in the scene with Teyla's hug and then with his reaction to Rodney's death (wow) were eloquent and clear. I saw a comment on someone's lj that they wondered if he played it closer to the surface since it was in a dream, and that John wouldn't show that much in real life. Hmmm... He did look devastated at Kate's death too (they probably see a lot of each other, professionally, all things considered), but the look on his face at what he thought was Rodney's death? Yikes. And I loved the look the two exchange when they wake up. It's nice to see actors so attuned to each other that they can clearly have whole conversations with a glance on camera.

And to add to what I admire about the timing of the actors and editors in this one, there's that last scene. John eating and reading, unable to sleep, and the others showing up one by one to join him, to reassure each other and him.

Last thought on this ep - I'm thrilled that the writers have finally figured out that the female characters can communicate and have friendships. 'Bout time, guys. Teyla had LINES and character moments.
